question about Lear 24, 25 series

question about Lear 24, 25 series

okay here is a question that for some of you will seem to be stupid, but, being limited so far to piston aircraft, you will have to forgive me.

I have been thinking of getting something faster (yes I would hire professional pilots) and I see that the Lear 24 and 25s are really cheap. Why is that so? Are the maintainance/operating costs that much higher? Why so much less than, for example, a Citation II?

If I don't fly that much, the higher operating costs would not matter that much.

anyone know the answer? thank you
