Avionics / CommunicationsHF Communications Two high-frequency (HF) communications systems that aregenerally in accordance with ARINC characteristic 719 are installed.Partial provisions are installed to accommodate future activation ofdual ARINC 753 HF data link communications. An ARINC 753datalink is installed that enables ACARS data to be transmitted toground stations through the HF communications system.VHF Communications Three ARINC 750 VHF FM-Immune communications systems areinstalled. The systems are capable of 8.33 kHz channel spacing,have VHF Digital Link (VDL) Mode 2 capability and CMC interfacecapabilities. VHF Digital Link (VDL) Data Mode 2 is activated.SATCOM An ARINC 741 three-channel Aero-H+ SATCOM system is installed.SELCAL A selective calling (SELCAL) system that is in general accordancewith ARINC characteristic 714 is installed.Aircraft Communications Addressing & Reporting System (ACARS) An ARINC 758 AOA capable CMU (ACARS Over AVLC (AviationVHF Link Control) capable Communications Management Unit) isinstalled. This CMU supports transmission of ACARS formatmessages using either VHF Data Mode A or VHF Digital Link (VDL)Data Mode 2. An ARINC 607 Type II Airplane Personality Module(APM) is installed.PA System A personnel address (PA) system is installed to provide one-waycommunication from the flight compartment to the upper deckpersonnel accommodations compartment, lavatory, andcrew rest compartments.Voice Recorder An ARINC 757 cockpit voice recording system with two hourrecording capability is installed.Flight Data Recorder An ARINC 747 solid state digital flight data recorder (DFDR) isinstalled. The recorder has a recording speed of 256 words persecond and has a recording capacity of 25 hours.Weight & Balance Computer A single weight and balance computer system is installed tomeasure and display airplane gross weight in pounds and centre ofgravity location in percent of mean aerodynamic chord (MAC) withthe airplane on the ground.TCAS / ACAS A change 7 compliant traffic alert and collision avoidance systemthat is generally in accordance with ARINC characteristic 735 isinstalled.
