Hi. My question is have you ever flown a stealth bomber? If so , did you like it? Stealth bombers are my favorite airplane. Hope you can answer my question. Spencer Stevens age 11 I saw your site on zdtv last night. Hi Rapier
  The question is : F16 Block ???
  Let's say F16 Block 50-52
You cannot compare him with Super Hornet just because you dont know yet the flying envelope.
But compared with F18 hornet C version
here's the list:
1. Thrust to weight ratio - F16
2. Very low speed maneuvering - F18
3. All around visibility - F16
4. Supersonic speeds - F16
5. AoA - F18
6. Energy management - F16
7. Engine survability - F18
8. Avionics - F18
9. Smaller radar cross section - F16
10. Agility - F16
  You see? Now who's better?
If you have additional comp write them down.
Thanks
  Viper

My question concerns a possible advantage of using SARH(Semi-Active Radar Homing) missiles over active radar guided missiles. I know that SARH missiles use the radar signals from the launching aircraft the guide themselves to the target, so the launching aircraft may be able to see through countermeasures, if you know what I mean. However, an actively guided missile does not require the launching aircraft to maintain a lock until impact. So if the active radar missile can get spoofed by chaff. Then it has no way to re-attain a lock on the correct target. But in using a SARH missile it seems that the launching aircraft's radar could give the missile a "second chance" by directing the missile back to the correct target.

I guess this is more of wondering if I'm right rather that a question, although I probably don't fully understand the behavior of a missile. If you don't understand what I am saying then please tell me and I'll try to explain it again in English ;)

What's better the Viper or Hornet?

*** Posted by Rapier ***

The gun to have is a Glock 9mm or a Colt 45ACP. Never leave home wilthout it. Sad that someone did not have one
at their disposal when some despots
took over the aircraft on 9/11.
Had someone had at least one gun, then
box cutters are no match for a gun fight. And the gun owner does not have to be a sky marshal. Pilots ought to be armed at all times and some of the other crew members if they wish with passengers to back up with their own.

Hi pilots ,

I fly Falcon 4 now and was wondering for all you block-50 pilots ... is it possible to tranfer the target locked by a AGM-88 Harm to a normal GM/GMT radar mode and by doing so giving you the possibility of dropping CBU's precisely on AAA or SAM's

P.S.: Would it be possible for you guys to send me an F-16 Dash 1 Manual ?

The AIM-47 was the forerunner of the AIM-54 Phoenix. The basic airframe is the same, however the AIM-47 was designed to carry a small nuclear warhead. It was never used operationally - only 13 test firings from the YF-12A.

AIM-47/GAR-9

*** Posted by SKY ***

At what range does the seeker head go active? To date my 120 tactics in F4 have been to acquire - lock - fire 120 - and then remain locked until the missle hits the target or over shoots. Very dangerous at under 20 miles to target. I would like to use multiple target/multiple launch tactics, but will need the info above to use it effectively?

LGB FIRE?

*** Posted by Melvin ***

How do I fire the GBU-24? I selected the weapon, in slave mode, i engaged the target, flew at 3000ft, I couldn't release the bomb! Why? What's the altitude and range for release?

Counter measures

*** Posted by Rapier ***
Hi,

I've been thinking about the counter measures (flares & Chaff) on todays fighter aircraft. How well do they function in real combat? What if they developed a counter measure that is like a small missle and can be fired from the plane in any angle (like a gun turret). These small missles could be made to track & kill incomming missles like SAM's & Air-Air missles, if it could some how even confuse the radar guided weapons it would be even more of an advantage instead of the pilot going through evasive manuver hell. It would become the hunter who is then being hunted. Do you think they are thinking along these lines at the moment.

Hi,

Why do IR A-A missles need to be cooled? Is this something to do with aquiring the target in some way?

Thanks just something I've alway wondered.
