REMARKS:
Both Tigers offered are in beautiful condition, currently sporting an RAAF livery as befits their history as RAAF training aircraft. In more recent times they have been the beloved companions of Captain Boggles and the Tiger Moth Company, providing scenic joy flights to captivated passengers throughout Southern Australia.
Due to his persistent inability to learn to fly both aircraft at the same time, coupled with the desire to pursue further projects, Captain Boggles has elected to offer one of his fleet for purchase by, hopefully, a ‘stick and rudder’ aficionado who thrills to the feel of the open cockpit.
VH-ART: Total rebuild in 1996 by Charlie Edmunds of Melbourne, VIC.
The aircraft is fresh from 100 hourly inspection, undercarriage overhaul and three-yearly wing inspection.
The engine is a Gypsy Major 10 Mk II engine, rated at 145 Horsepower, with a large spline crankshaft (negating inspection requirements) and 1320 hours to run. Aluminium cylinder heads are fitted. The propeller is virtually new, having only completed 120 hours use.
Additional CASA approved modifications include: smoker system (used for flypasts, aerobatics, etc.), tail wheel, front cockpit cover (easily converts to single seater and adds + 5 knots to cruise), panel mounted ICOM VHF, ‘G’ meter.
Price: $74,000.00 inclusive (will consider post-sale positioning flight for purchaser)
VH-ALP: Rebuilt in 1981 by Keith Ginman (a QANTAS LAME at that time).
Requires a 100 hourly inspection, is due for wing inspection soon and minor rib repair to three wings (caused through normal wear and tear).
The engine is a Gypsy Major 10 Mk II engine, rated at 130 Horsepower (fitted with flat instead of domed pistons) which can be upgraded to 145 Hp with domed pistons available on request. The engine has 626 hours to run.
Additional approved modifications include: smoker system, tail wheel, front cockpit cover and an Alpha Gonave VHF radio. An extra feature of VH-ALP is the recently fitted rollover truss, aft of the rear cockpit, previously used by Tiger pilots for protection during crop-spraying.
Price: $38,000.00 inclusive (will consider post-sale positioning flight for purchaser)
All interested parties are able to contact Captain Boggles (aka Rob St John) on 08 8768 2227. International dial 61 (Australia) and delete the first zero of the number.
To place the offer in context; pricing the restoration of a ‘basket case’ (which these aircraft are not!) to pristine condition currently costs in excess of $130,000.00
